Carbon Bars

I run a flat bar on my XC hardtail. I want to ride in a more upright position instead of bending my back in a agressive pose.

The saddle is about 3 inches taller than the flat bar when I'm ridding onroad. The stem cannot be raised anymore.

Should I change to a riser bar? What else should I consider?

Thanks.

I am a recent convert. I bought some carbon bars at The Bicycle World in Wan Chai (ask for Jonathan) a few months ago. I think their prices are better than FB and the selection is good...price was about $800 for some XC easton monkey lites. On my new bike I have some U.S.E. Atom oversized (came with my new bike from FB). These feel strong plus they come with special reinforced inserts at the ends so that you can put bar ends on (which I always use)... and they look cool too!

Someone please correct me if I am wrong here, but I dont think that you cut the carbon bars down to the width that you like so you are stuck with the stock sizes.

Im going to jump in here before anyone else - there are a lot of neh sayers out there who will say - oh dont buy carbon, they snap all the time!

i have been riding carbon bars ever since their early incarnations and none have ever failed me, and the technology has come a long way since then.

if youre a bigger guy or intended to do huge hucks you may want to get the oversized bars - which would also entail getting a larger gauge stem

personal favs for me are the raceface and easton monkey lites

but the main reason for buying them is they just look sexy and not like some lead piping!

AND NO THEY DO NOT MELT IN THE SUN!
