Hi guys,

I'm new to biking but was thinking of exploring the offroad experience in Hong Kong.

Wanted to know whether it's easy to start learning in Hong Kong (Island side). The difficulty in finding good trails in general. Is this something you can just go out and learn or need to find a guide/trainer for the first few times.

Thoughts appreciated.

Island side is a tough place to learn. It'd be much better to start with Tai Lam (easy trail) or the second half of Chi Ma Wan (easy bike hire).

If you decide you need guiding, Steve's the guy to get in touch with as he runs skills classes.

Hi Jack,
There is only one legal track on the Island "Dragons Back" it's not very beginner friendly although the lower half is flatter and less technical -download the map via HKMBA. It's also not to easy to get to, unless you throw your bike in a taxi. Definately take a friend just in case you come off!

Best beginner trail in Hong Kong has got to be Tai Lam, it's flat for the majority of the trail side with some good beginner obstacles thrown in, whilst the closed road side will get you fit with the hills.

Steve
