According to discussions with AFCD from the most recent build day, all works will be suspended until end of the year. Probably October to November, mainly due to weather conditions being more acceptable.

During the wetter, summer months country park management will focus on vegetation control and keeping back any growth from intruding on the trail. They also clear or fell any dangerous trees in these months.

The biggest news is that the current illegal trail, Tin Man, is top of the list of trails to opened as official country park mtb trail. It will not be an easy or quick trail to build but hopefully if they choose to go ahead we can certainly help them to make it a well built challenging trail. Keep a look out for more news on future trail building volunteer days.

Cheers!

That would be epic! On another note... When is the next trail maintenance/upgrade for TMS scheduled? The trails are getting over-grown, and washed out in places.

600 meters drop - Top of TMS to Shing Mun Reservoir, that would be.

Rode this a year ago when it was still under construction, awesome trail! Plus there's many other long distance trails from the upper cable car that are worth doing.

I am heading off to St Moritz in Switzerland next month for a riding holiday.
The trail in this video was purpose built and looks incredible. This is the kind of all-new trail we should be pushing for on Tai Mo Shan - from the car park near the observatory down towards a link up with route TWISK. That would really put us on the mountain-biking map.

I went to the Tai Lam Resevoir loop with fellow MTB beginners last Sunday morning doing it counter-clockwise. The first part is the concrete path which involves climbs. One of first-timers (not ridden for 1 yrs+) got really winded under the hot & humid weather. After we went past the dam, the guy really could not continue with anymore uphill climb and called it quits.

The sign on the So Kwun Wat Tsuen Rd is still no bicycle allowed, not even walking the bike. Anyway safety first so we took our chances and headed down the road to the nearest gas station and called hire-a-van.

Probably a good time to get in touch with AFCD to see if we can help pacify the villagers. We should also point out that MTBers are a good source of income for the village store and noodle shop!

Dunno really. The AFCD may simply be in the consultation phase with local villagers to ensure that there will be no troubles before they can formally request/recommend these routes be opened. Anyway, its at least a step in the right direction and opening this access road make perfect sense. We and other MTB groups have been asking to get this road opened for a long time now.
